Henri Philippe Pierre, Jean-Baptiste (Henry) Waelput ( Ghent , 26 October 1845 - 8 July 1885 ) was a Belgian composer , music educator and conductor . Waelput was the first music teacher at St. Barbara College Ghent Karel Miry . First he studied literature and philosophy at the University of Ghent . Subsequently he studied harmony with François-Joseph Fétis and orchestration with Charles Hanssens at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels . In 1866 he won a composition prize.
