Heavy Jelly started off under a number of guises and group members in the early 60's in Newcastle (UK). They were part of the Britpop/psychedelic scene without any great commercial success. A number of name (The Unknowns, The Crestas, The Clique and The Chosen Few among others) and personnel changes eventually led the the formation of Skip Bifferty in 1966. Mickey Gallagher(keyboard), Colin Gibson(bass), John Turnbull(guitar, vocals), Graham Bell(vocalist), Tommy Jackman(drummer) were the founding members.
