London-based Hat and Cross formed in February 2023, drawing inspiration from the minimal sounds of New Order's early drum machine rhythms (Boss DR-55), and guitars resonating with the raw grit of Big Black in combination with early Cure (Seventeen Seconds, Faith, and Pornography era). Some songs touch on topics such as past friendships, death, and skepticism. Sometimes described as 'lofi post-punk and vocals' or 'primitive post-punk/industrial rock'
