Gutter Virgins is inspired by old-school trip hop music from great bands such as Portishead. Their sound is deliberately lo-fi, with emo pop elements. Lead singer Virginia Willian employs an almost whispered vocal throughout their songs, as if another lo-fi instrument, to underline the sincerity of their songs. Lyricist/producer/programmer Morten Maehre, known from indie-pop band Not the Band, delivers the backing tracks, using AI to produce the unique sound of Gutter Virgins.
