
Gustavo López was born in Mexico City, and his formal guitar studies began at the young age of 9. Although he first appeared in public on the radio at age 11- he said he didn't take the guitar seriously until he was almost 25. He became a student of Daniel Garate,and later became the lead guitar player with the Mexican trio Hermanos Martinez Gil.
