In 1981, hobby musician Jon Lathemor of Utica, NY met Florian Kleiber, an aspiring German producer, in a local coffee shop. The two quickly struck a friendship, and began sharing ideas and concepts that would soon turn into a short experimental record named "Holer". They were to release this music under the band name "Gunts", but unfortunately were at odds creatively with one another after it was completed. The album never got the chance to see the light of day.
