About Gunesh
Gunesh Ensemble, founded in 1970 in Ashkhabad (now Ashgabat), Turkmenistan, was one of the pioneering bands of the Soviet Union to merge jazz-rock with traditional Central Asian music. Initially starting as a vocal group supported by musicians from Turkmenistan State Radio and TV, Gunesh evolved as a dynamic collective, incorporating young musicians and modern influences to create a unique fusion of jazz and Oriental sounds. The band quickly gained recognition for their innovative approach
