"Gumtops" references the book Gumtops by Australian cultural-nationalist poet Rex Ingamells. Gumtops was born in Newcastle and has released two works to date. Gumtops debut single, Dezi Freeman Is Dead, was released on March 31st 2026 following the shooting of self‑proclaimed sovereign citizen Dezi Freeman in Thologolong, Victoria. Freeman was the perpetrator of the Porepunkah police shootings.
