Active from 1999 until 2001, Gridland were Dylan Spence (Ed Function) and Ryan Gobbe (Twotone, Mieli). Drawing heavily upon the vintage era (or Golden Age) of synthesizer and drum machine equipment, the duo layed their prolific recordings onto reel-to-reel tape; thus flying in the face of the digital era and alienating themselves from the popularity of mainstream dance. Stylistically, Gridland is like a hotdog pizza: repulsively satisfying. Sonically, they're like a vintage computer: functional but obtuse.
