Gines de Morata was a Renaissance composer of the XVIth century of Iberian origin, probably Portuguese. Little is known oh the details of his life. It is only known that he was Kapellmeister at the Ducal Palace of Vila Viçosa, belonging to the Dukes of Braganza, possibly before 1576. Of this composer survived only a small number of carols, madrigals, songs polyphonic and Pange lingua. His works are preserved in manuscripts of the Chapel of the Dukes of Braganza and the Cancionero de Medinaceli (11 songs and a Pange lingua).
