Gasparo Gabellone (12/04/1727 - 22/03/1796) was an Italian composer, born in Naples. He was a church composer, and one of the best singing masters of Italy. He studied under Francesco Durante at the Conservatory di Santa Maria di Loreto. In 1757 he was active at the Teatro Nuovo as a composer and conductor, but in 1780 he abandoned opera for sacred music. His works have been little studied but include three operas, six oratorios, two Masses, a Requiem, three Passions, 14 fugues, and two symphonies, as well as other arias and cantatas.
