Gary Blanchard was born in Baltimore in 1951. He first remebered hearing folk music when the Kingston Trio's Tom Dooley played on the radio in 1958. It wasn't until 1966, after hearing Donovan sing Catch the Wind, that Gary decided to learn guitar. A couple of years later Gary heard the music of Pete Seeger and began teaching himself to play banjo. Gary has made several musical detours over the years, but has returned to his folk roots and is performing in the New England area on a regular basis.
