Gerry Balding started playing guitar as a teenager in the 60s. He was regular observer and occasional performer at Trayners, legendary 60s folk club in Melbourne. Gerry started fingerpicking early and that is still his main focus. Blues has long been part of Gerry's life and he counts among his influences Mississippi John Hurt, Rev. Gary Davis, Robert Johnson, Leroy Carr, Scrapper Blackwell, Blind Boy Fuller and many others including Ry Cooder and Taj Mahal. These influences are easily recognised on his CD's.
