There are three artists/bands called Freebass. a) Freebass is the name of a band formed in Manchester, UK by Peter Hook (Joy Division, New Order & Monaco), Gary 'Mani' Mounfield (The Stone Roses & Primal Scream) and Andy Rourke (The Smiths). All three founding members were bass players in their former groups, which resulted in the band name Freebass being adopted. The group was formed in 2005 and had significant difficulties finding a vocalist but in 2007 recruited Gary Briggs of Haven.
