About Frans Vermeerssen
Frans Vermeerssen (b. 1956) is a Dutch jazz saxophonist, band leader and composer. Vermeerssen studied classical saxophone at the Stedelijk Conservatorium Groningen, then saxophone and improvisation at the Sweelinck Conservatorium Amsterdam and composition with Jacob TV (ter Veldhuis). With Greetje Bijma and Alan Laurillard's Noodband he played at the Moers Festival in 1982. He was or is a member u. a. the Gerard Ammerlaan Orchestra and Octet, the Willem van Manen Contraband
