Frank Milne was a piano roll editor for the Aeolian Company, which was a piano roll industry leader. In 1933, Milne "cut" a 2-roll arrangement of George Gershwin's An American in Paris. Cutting a piano roll refers to the punching of various sized "holes" in the piano roll, which in turn triggered the piano keys to play. This arrangement is included in the album Gershwin Plays Gershwin: The Piano Rolls. Though "An American in Paris" on this album is a Gershwin piece, a piano was not used to cut these piano rolls.
