The New Deal was formed in 2003 when Frank began writing, rehearsing and playing around town with Joel Levin and John D. Cruz, fellow members of the last great garage band, the Hardcore Troubadours. With the addition of local gem Kristopher Madaus on bass, the quintet explored a more "ambitious sound," honing their skills in a small, very loud room above the Blue Moon clothing store on Main Street and Chestnut in Ventura, California. In the spring of 2003, the New Deal hit the studio to record Blueskies Longrides Youreyes.
