
Francisco de Terrazas (1525?-1600? ) was the first Castilian poet born in Mexico. Most of Terrazas's works are considered lost, therefore, the compositions that have been recorded by him are really scarce. Nine sonnets , an epistle in tercets, ten tenths and some fragments composed of seventy-five octaves of the epic poem entitled "New World and Conquest" have been preserved from his production to date. In 1577 five of his sonnets were published within the manuscript songbook Flores de Baria [sic] Poesía
