Francis Popy was a French composer born on 1 July 1874 in the district of Croix-Rousse in Lyon and died in Belleville (Rhône) in 1928. His music is representative of the Belle Epoque. In Lyon, a park named after him: Francis Popy Park. Coming from a family of masons Creuse, Francis Popy was born at 7 place-Arnaud Commander in the 4th arrondissement of Lyon. A commemorative plaque is his birthplace (formerly Rue du Sentier). He composed his first works during his military service.
