
Francesco Guami was probably born in or around 1544 (in Lucca, as were virtually all of the Guamis), and he died (again in Lucca) two years into the next century, 30 January 1602, to be precise. Like his more famous brother Gioseffo, Francesco spent a good deal of his life in Munich and in Venice. In Munich, he played trombone at the Duke of Bavaria's court (1568 - 1580, the very same years that Gioseffo played organ at the same court -- the two brothers
