Francesco Gardi (c. 1760, probably near Modena - c.1810, Venice) was an Italian composer. We know that in 1786 he made his debut in Modena as an opera composer with the opera seria Aeneas in Latium. From 1787 to 1791 he was director of the female choir and composer at the 'Hospital of Derelitti,' in Venice, and from 1797 on he served as choirmaster at the 'Hospital of the Beggars.' In twenty years of opera he wrote many works, especially comedies relying mainly on the booklets of Giuseppe Maria Foppa.
