About Francesc Espelt
Francesc Espelt (Barcelona,? - Manresa, 22 August 1712) was a Catalan chapel master, organist and composer. Espelt, son of Josep and Maria, was a member of a cobla of xeremillers from Barcelona who were hired on June 27, 1686 by the construction of the basilica of Santa Maria del Mar, to play during communion. Later, four years later, on July 4, 1690, he was appointed chapel master in the same basilica, a position he held until January 9, 1696, when he resigned to become a monk in favor of his brother
