
Fong Naam is a Thai ensemble, founded in 1983 by Buyong Ketkhong and his student Bruce Gaston with the aim of introducing classical and traditional Thai music to Thai and foreign audiences. The ensemble is named after the first traditional piece it performed in public -- an ancient melody once performed to accompany the offering of food to monks, whose title means "bubble" or "sponge". While maintaining contemporary classical traditions, the ensemble has also revitalised and recorded historic ensembles
