About Fleshpuppets
Alternative band based in Manchester, active from 1983-87. Released two 7" singles, Deadline/Pain and Scarecrow/Tall Ships. Supported bands such as X-Mal Deutschland, Skeletal Family, Balaam & The Angel, Folk Devils. Initially influenced by early-80s punk and goth bands, broadening out to a wider range including bands such as Traffic, Hawkwind and even Clannad. Singles were played by John Peel and 'Kid' Jensen on Radio 1, and by Tony Michaelaedes on Piccadilly Radio, Manchester. Followed by a small but dedicated group of fans from Warrington.
