About Flags the Band
Flags were born in Surrey, UK, in 2009. Their music mixes mainstream alternative rock with the quirkiness of African tribal music. Their influences range from the off-beat Dave Brubeck Quartet and the thump of Jack White to the harmonies of Ladysmith Black-Mambazo and innovation of post-'66 Beatles. They consist of three principal members: Marc Girdlestone (vocals, guitar, moktak woodblock); David Joyson (guitar, piano, djembe) and Pete Knapp (drums, marimba, percussion).
