About First Serve
Dave Jolicoeur and Kelvin Mercer, two of the three founding members of De La Soul, have started a new project. They've both taken on a number of nicknames throughout their careers (Trugoy, Posdnuos) but for this project, titled First Serve, they're going by Jacob "Pop Life" Barrow and Deen Whittier, or Plug 1 and Plug 2, respectively. Deep breath. They released a mixtape called "The Goon Time Mixtape" followed by a full-length album entitled "First Serve" in April 2012.
