Ersi Arvisu was the vocalist behind the 70's hit, "Sabor a mi" as part of El Chicano, an early East LA band. Shortly after that success, she gave up singing to pursue her first love, boxing. Years later, Ry Cooder invited her to sing on his Chavez Ravine project. He encouraged her to return to music and urged her to write. Friend for Life is the outcome of their collaboration.
