Truly more on the fringes than at the centre of the French music scene in Quebec, Émilie Proulx's music blends the simplicity of folk and sadcore with a penchant for very personal reflections and imagery, inspired in part by Joni Mitchell and Joseph Arthur. The result is slow and thoughtful songs, tinged with a dark atmosphere, that probably don't sound like anything. Anything, that is, except Émilie Proulx.
