Dublin-born Emer Kenny began playing the harp when she was nine years old, eventually earning a scholarship to study at the College of Music in Dublin and Trinity College of Music in London. Her approachable blend of traditional Celtic music and lush technology landed her a record deal with Mercury and she released her debut album, Emer Kenny, in 1997. Kenny's wistful voice and atmospheric style have earned her comparisons to fellow Irish singers Sinead O'Conner and Enya as well as artists such as the Cocteau Twins and Bjork.
