El Requin (pronounced EHL-REH-KWEEN) is 21-year-old Rock Hill, South Carolina native and resident, Jason Calixto. in 2009, Calixto started attending Duke University to study Philosophy and Mathematics, but has taken some time off to focus on music. He plans on returning in 2012. Jason Calixto's methods and influences are constantly evolving. While heavily influenced by his classically trained upbringing and his parents stylized spanish music, his contemporary influences are Toro Y Moi, The Weeknd, The Radio Dept., and The Shout Out Louds.
