
Born in Glasgow in 1948, Edward McGuire studied composition with James Iliff at the Royal Academy of Music, London and then with the Swedish composer Ingvar Lidholm in Stockholm. His works have been regularly broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and commissions have come from many orchestras, ensembles and festivals including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra (the symphonic poems 'Calgacus' and 'Source'), Royal Scottish National Orchestra ('Symphonies of Scots Song')
