It all started: American born Samuel (the leader), age 33, grew up listening to and playing the psychedelic 60/70s Rock of the West. Nevertheless, many years ago in Southern Egypt when he first heard the popular local singer Ahmad 'Adawiyya's music, he was amazed at how familiar it felt and how so many elements were akin to the music of his youth: He became an instant fan. Later, he continued on to study with local masters of Classical Middle Eastern music and singing in Jerusalem
