About Drukpa Order from Thimphu and Punakha

The Drukpa Order is a subcategory of the Kagyüpa (The School of Oral Transmission) school of Tibetan Buddhism. The word "Druk", meaning Thunder Dragon, comes from the temple of that name in Tibet, originally associated with this sect. In these recordings, made by John Levy for Lyrichord in 1971, the monks are from Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan and the nuns are from Punakha, also located in Bhutan.
