
Don and Earl were a white gospel duo based in Knoxville, Tennessee, who gained national recognition during the 1960s through broadcasts, including on WWVA, a station from Wheeling, West Virginia. Don (Ladonuel Williams, born 1924-06-18 in Briceville, TN) and Earl Mays (born 1935-05-14 in Knoxville) partnered in 1950 and performed together until Don's death in 1985. They toured, sang in churches, and operated a sound studio in Knoxville, recording tapes for numerous groups.
