Dominique Bertram took up bass in 1968 in Paris, influenced by Otis Redding and Rythm'n'Blues. He is a great fan of jazz-rock and played with Zao, Neffesh, Alien Quartet before meeting Christian Vander and joining Magma (Concert at Bobino in 1981). In the 80s, he played with Renaud, Michel Jonasz, Véronique Sanson, Catherine Lara and Nicole Croisille, with whom he appeared on her tribute show to Claude Nougaro. In the 90s, he played with Eddy Mitchell, and joined Patrick Bruel on his two major tours.
