Desmond Star is actually Daniel Roberts but everyone calls him 'Des'. You can too. 'Star' is a nickname someone gave him in college. It wasn’t meant as a label. It just means 'a good guy', or something like that, in Port Talbot slang. Des adopted it because it sounds pretentious. It's an ironic counterpoint to music that is anything but.
