Derek Wadsworth's first work in television came in 1971 as music arranger for Christa: Swedish Fly Girls. In 1975 he worked on a production called Alfie Darling which soon lead to him being contracted to compose the music for the second season of Space 1999 which is what he is now best known for. He also wrote the music for the Gerry Anderson production The Day After Tomorrow. Later works include music for Britannia Hospital (1982), The Whales of August (1987) and A Child Is a Wild Thing in 1976.
