About Dennis Florine
Dennis was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1986. In high school, he was introduced to "slam poetry" through his English teacher, Henry Sampson, then vice president of the National Poetry Slam. He was soon competing in poetry slams throughout the Chicago area until he got a place on a team headed for the national slam in the summer of 2005. He competed in the group competitions for both the 2005 and 2006 slams. Throughout high school and afterwards
