Dawn Langstroth knew from an early age that singing was her passion. Music filled her home during her growing up years. Mom, Anne Murray, sang; Dad, Bill Langstroth, played guitar; Dawn was quick to join in school musicals and choirs. In 1996, Dawn made her recording debut, singing background vocals with Jann Arden on "The Other Side", for Anne Murray's self-titled CD. She followed this up in 1999 with the duet "Let There Be Love", also recorded with Anne Murray.
