
David Mingyue Liang (born in 1941, in Beijing) is a Chinese-American composer. He is familiar to many by virtue of his two pieces ("Music of a Thousand Springs" and "Zen (Ch'an) of Water") included on an album featuring Terry Riley's "In C". Liang Mingyue is also an ethnomusicologist and performer of Chinese musical instruments. He is among the foremost artists and authorities of the qin. Having received his B.A. in composition from the University of Hawaii, he obtained a Ph.
