Darcy Perry was born in Thames Hospital, New Zealand, on the first day of December 1972. The eldest of four boys, his father was a brass bandsman and his mother played bass and piano accordian. Darcy's first instrument was a trumpet, given to him by his father at age 7. In the early 90’s Perry became part of the New Zealand blues scene as bass player for Manawatu bluesman Tura 'Bullfrog' Rata. A decade later he released his debut album as a guitarist, Blues 4 Dad, dedicated to his father Ross Perry (who died of Cancer in 2002).
