The Dancing French Liberals of '48 were a Seattle punk band, formed by the remaining members of THE GITS after Gits vocalist Mia Zapata was murdered in 1993. Former Gits guitarist Joe Spleen took over vocal duties, and Julian Gibson of the D.C. Beggars was added as a second guitarist. They released their first 7" single, "Spags," in 1995 on Broken Rekids, and followed it with a 10" picture disc containing 5 songs. Their first full length, "Powerline," was released in 1996.
