Damon & the Heathens are a six-piece punk/soul band from Oakland, California. They combine the sounds of New Orleans brass bands with Detroit garage rock, blues, jazz, and funk to create a sound best described as horn-fueled Oakland grit. Bristling with horns, driven by an aggressive, jazz-influenced rhythm section, and fronted by thumping keys and growling, subversive vocals, The Heathens recall influences as various as The Stooges, Charles Mingus, Tom Waits, and Morphine.
