Dactalus de Padua is not recognized as a distinct composer in most modern musicological studies. The name Dactalus de Padua appears to be an erroneous attribution for works that are now primarily ascribed to the composer Bartolino da Padova. The name "Dactalus de Padua" is sometimes found in music sources (specifically, the ModA manuscript) but is considered a mistake for Bartolino da Padova. The actual composer Bartolino da Padova (fl. c. 1365–1405) was an Italian composer active during the Italian Trecento (or Ars Nova).
