Christine De Luca is a Scottish poet and novelist who writes in English and in Shetland Dialect which is a blend of Old Scots with much Norse influence. She was born and brought up in Shetland, spending her formative years in Waas (Walls) on the west side of the mainland. She now lives in Edinburgh. She was appointed Edinburgh Makar (Poet Laureate of the city) in May 2014. Her main interest is poetry, but she has also written a range of dialect stories for Shetland children. Her first novel, And then forever was published in 2011.
