Formed by London-born brothers Ben and Tom Vella, Child of the Parish is a project that offers a chance for escape, while still posing those all-consuming questions about time, memory, love and relationships. Sweet Surrender takes its cues from classic house and dance, from M83 to Daft Punk, melding those glitchy, electronic sounds with more organic elements of indie, disco and funk. Ben and Tom’s DIY attitude was inherited in part by their family’s musical background: both their granddad and their two great uncles worked in orchestras.
