The Chicago Luzern Exchange consists of three musicians from Chicago: Josh Berman (cornet), Keefe Jackson (tenor sax), Frank Rosaly (drums) and one from Switzerland: Marc Unternährer (tuba). The ensemble formed when the Chicagoans met tubaist Marc Unternährer, a native of the Swiss city of Luzern, who was spending five months in Chicago in 2002 as part of a "sister cities" program.
