
Ché-SHIZU (シェシズ) is a Japanese avant-folk / free improvisation group consisting of Chie Mukai (向井千恵) and others. The group's sound is dominated by Mukai's vocals and her haunting erhu playing. The group was formed in Tokyo, Japan in 1980, but is currently inactive. Many notable musicians from the Japanese underground have played in the group at one time or another, including Tori Kudo (工藤冬里), Masami Tada, Masami Shinoda, Yuriko Mukojima (向島ゆり子), and Ikuro Takahashi (高橋幾郎).
