Carlo Luigi Pietragrua (Florence , 1665 - Venice , March 27, 1726) was an Italian composer , mainly active in Germany . A member of a family of musicians , from 1687 he was a contraltist in the court chapel of the Elector of Saxony in Dresden , where on 20 February 1693 he was elevated to the post of deputy Kapellmeister . During the carnival of the same year Pietragrua staged his first opera, Camillo generoso . The following year he left the Saxon capital for Düsseldorf
