About Candles of Paradise
Candles of Paradise is a slow-fi gospel duo based in Brooklyn. Nancy Brown and JR Thomason, though both Texans, the two never met until 2009, when they'd been living in Brooklyn for years. They've played throughout Brooklyn and shared bills with the likes of Rain Machine and Sharon Van Etten. In 2007, shortly after moving to New York, Nancy Brown played her first-ever show, and sang completely a cappella. She played a number of shows in this way, stunning audiences into rapt silence with her naked voice.
